have you ever considered couples therapy?
When your relationship feels strained, it can start to affect everything: how you talk, how you parent, how you handle stress, and how close you feel to each other. You may still care deeply about your partner, but feel caught in patterns that leave you frustrated, distant, defensive, or unsure how to move forward.
Couples therapy can help you slow things down, understand what is happening beneath the surface, and begin turning toward each other with more honesty, care, and clarity.
Couples counselling may be helpful if you are noticing:
-
Frequent arguments or the same conflict repeating
-
Feeling disconnected, lonely, or misunderstood
-
Difficulty communicating without defensiveness or shutdown
-
Loss of trust, closeness, or emotional intimacy
-
Stress from parenting, family, work, or life transitions
-
Unresolved hurt, resentment, or relationship injuries
-
Conversations about repair, separation, or whether to stay together
You do not need to wait until things feel unmanageable. Relationship therapy can offer a steadier space to rebuild connection, strengthen communication, and find a clearer way forward together.

COUPLES THERAPY
DISCOVER COUPLES COUNSELLING IN BROCKVILLE
Couples therapy is not about deciding who is right or wrong. It is about understanding the patterns that keep you stuck and learning how to communicate, repair, and include each other more fully in your lives.
In sessions, both partners have space to speak honestly and be understood. The work may involve learning how to listen differently, express needs more clearly, rebuild trust, and make sense of how stress, past hurt, parenting, or life changes are affecting the relationship.
The goal is to help you create more clarity, strengthen connection, and begin building a relationship that feels more supportive, intentional, and connected to the life you are trying to build together.

SUPPORT FOR RELATIONSHIP ISSUES, COMMUNICATION STRUGGLES, TRUST, AND CONNECTION.
Couples therapy can help when the challenges in your relationship begin affecting daily life, family life, emotional closeness, or how you communicate with each other.
Couples therapy can help with:
-
Communication struggles
-
Repeating conflict
-
Emotional disconnection
-
Intimacy and closeness
-
Trust and repair
-
Parenting and life transitions
-
Feeling misunderstood or unappreciated
-
Separation, repair, or next-step conversations
If this is what you are going through, couples therapy can help you slow things down, understand the patterns between you, and begin building a steadier way forward together.

WHAT TO EXPECT
HOW WE SUPPORT Couples
EVIDENCE-BASED COUPLES THERAPY IN BROCKVILLE
Couples therapy at Island Park is collaborative, grounded, and focused on understanding what is happening in your relationship. In the first sessions, we explore what brought you in, what each partner is hoping for, and the patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
For nearly three decades, Angela has helped individuals and couples reconnect with what they want in love and relationships. Whether you are navigating disconnection in a long-term partnership, rebuilding after hurt, or trying to understand what needs to shift, she brings a steady belief that a different way forward is possible.
Angela’s approach encourages reflection, accountability, and deeper understanding of the patterns shaping your relationship. She often helps clients explore an important question: What is my part here, and how do I want to show up differently?
For couples who feel unsure about the future of their relationship, Angela also offers discernment counselling. This short-term, structured process can help partners gain clarity and make thoughtful decisions about whether to keep working on the relationship or move toward separation with care.

CHILD THERAPY
PLAY THERAPY-INFORMED SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN
Play is one of the most natural ways children communicate. Through toys, games, stories, movement, art, and imagination, children can express feelings and experiences they may not yet have words for.
At Island Park Therapy, play therapy-informed support may include creative expression, relationship-based work, emotion identification, nervous system awareness, coping tools, parent collaboration, and age-appropriate cognitive and behavioural strategies.
Sessions may include:
Play-Based and Sandtray Therapy
Play, toys, miniatures, sandtray, and imaginative activities can help children explore emotions, experiences, and challenges in a way that feels natural, safe, and less pressured than talking alone.
Art and Creative Expression
Drawing, painting, crafts, stories, and other creative activities can help children express feelings they may not yet have words for.
Attachment-Informed and Relationship-Focused Work
We focus on building trust, connection, and safety, while supporting stronger relationships between children and caregivers.
Emotion Identification and Regulation Skills
Children may learn to notice feelings in their bodies, name emotions like worry, anger, sadness, or frustration, and practise tools for calming and coping.
Parent Support and Collaboration
Caregivers are part of the process. Parent sessions or check-ins may help you better understand your child’s needs and support change at home.
Cognitive and Behavioural Strategies
For older children, we may use simple CBT-informed tools to help them notice thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and build coping skills for home and school.
